November Walk

We often leave our little house for a ten-minute jaunt through the little park at the end of our street to the large park at the top of the hill, where we hit the playground and the children's garden.  The children's garden has mostly been put to sleep, but there are still bright pink roses and masses of silver sage.  The apples have all been picked from the espaliered branches and even the kale has been neatly snipped back.  If you walk the little paths of the children's garden, there's a wonderful view of down town, Liberty Bay with its boats, and the Olympics behind.  Even on cloudy days you can usually still glimpse a snowy peak.

On our way to the park. . .

It was already getting dark but you can just glimpse one of the Olympics rising behind the Bay.

Merry keeps reminding us all that Christmas is not far away.  We had to convince the girls not to drag home arms full of pine. . .not yet.
Each walk here reminds me of the truths Chief Seattle articulated. . .the earth is sacred, every fern frond precious.  I have always felt like a privileged guest, no matter where I live. . .and here is certainly no exception.
